Bill Gates, Chair of the Gates Foundation, Founder of Breakthrough Energy and Co-founder at Microsoft, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Of all the things humans have ever created, AI will change society the most. It will help solve many of our current problems while also bringing new challenges very different from past innovations. In agriculture, the impacts of a warming world are already visible. Rising temperatures driven by climate change are hitting farmers with the fewest resources first. AI-powered tools will soon give smallholder farmers better guidance on weather, crop disease, and soil health—helping to protect livelihoods and strengthen food security.
Healthcare will also get better with AI. Despite an incredible pipeline of medical innovation, cost and complexity continue to limit access to care around the world. Always available, high-quality medical guidance supported by AI tools will make a meaningful difference in places with too few doctors and nurses.
In education, personalized learning has long been a goal but delivering it at scale has proven difficult. AI can help teachers meet students where they are and keep more students engaged, particularly in under resourced systems.
Across climate, health, and education, the lesson is clear: Equitable outcomes will not happen on their own. To drive real progress, AI innovations must reach the people who need it most. ”
