The 5th Edition of the European Code Against Cancer has officially been released – bringing 14 evidence-based recommendations to help prevent cancer across Europe.
Written by Núria Aguado Machancoses, this blog highlights practical actions for individuals and policy makers, based on the latest scientific evidence.
Did you know?
Almost half of all cancer deaths in Europe could be prevented if these recommendations were followed.
The updated recommendations include: Stop smoking and avoid second-hand smoke, Maintain a healthy weight, Be physically active, Eat a balanced diet, Avoid alcohol, Protect yourself from the sun, Vaccinate against HPV & Hepatitis B, Participate in organized cancer screening programs…and more.
As nurses, we play a crucial role in translating prevention knowledge into daily practice and patient education.
