Bente Mikkelsen: Celebrating Completion of Wave 2 of Global Comfort Promise by St. Jude

Bente Mikkelsen, Director Global Engagement Strategies at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Transforming tears into smiles.

It is a true pleasure to celebrate the completion of Wave 2 of the Global Comfort Promise, organized by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Global Comfort Promise reflects what is possible when teams across the world come together with a shared commitment to reducing suffering for children. Through this second wave of Improvement Science in Action, hospitals from 24 teams from 15 countries engaged in learning sessions, coaching, and local implementation to improve the care they provide every day.

The outcomes achieved are extraordinary. As documented by the St. Jude Global Palliative Care Program, participating sites have demonstrated a greater than 55 percent reduction in needle‑based procedural pain, with thousands of procedures already benefiting from

Looking more broadly, since the Global Comfort Promise began, over 10000 pain‑free procedures achieved since 2021 for children with cancer around the world.

These results are not abstract – they represent real children experiencing less fear and less pain because of your dedication.

What stands out most is not only the data, but the collaboration behind it.

Thank you also to support governments and patients to make the WHA resolution on palliative care come to life!”
