Beatrice Okumu, City Manager in Nairobi at City Cancer Challenge, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This week has been a dynamic and inspiring one, on the sidelines of the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2026, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with key partners and stakeholders committed to advancing cancer care in Nairobi together with my colleagues from City Cancer Challenge (C/Can).
Our discussions with the Ministry of Health, Kenya were particularly encouraging, focusing on strengthening collaboration and aligning efforts to accelerate impact. These conversations reaffirmed the importance of coordinated action in addressing the growing cancer burden.
Equally valuable was the opportunity for City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) to host a roundtable discussion, bringing together senior Oncology leaders from Kenya, representatives from KENCO , and key C/Can partners. We were also honored to have senior leadership from Siemens Healthineers in attendance including their global CEO, Bernd Montag.
Hearing firsthand perspectives on the realities on the ground was incredibly insightful. These conversations are critical to ensuring that our interventions remain responsive, inclusive, and truly impactful for the communities we serve.
I am also grateful for the renewed commitment and engagement from the Nairobi City Executive Committee Members. We reviewed the progress of the 11 projects currently under implementation, and it is clear that continued partnership and shared accountability will be key to sustaining momentum.
As we move forward, these engagements reinforce a shared vision: building a stronger, more resilient cancer care system for Nairobi.”
