Aya E.: Cancer Research Advocacy and Federal Funding at AACI/AACR Hill Day

Aya E., Postdoctoral Fellow at Moffitt Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkdIn:

“I was privileged to participate in the AACI/AACR Hill Day on Capitol Hill AACI (Association of American Cancer Institutes) and American Association for Cancer Research advocating for continued federal funding for cancer research.

It was an honor to meet with congressional offices and discuss the critical role of the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute (NCI) in advancing lifesaving discoveries that directly impact patients and families across the country.

I was especially proud to highlight breakthrough research at Moffitt Cancer Center in immunology, clinical trials, mathematical oncology and bioengineering that aims at cancer prevention and enhancing outcomes for cancer patients.

I’m also grateful for the wonderful connections made throughout the Florida delegation Nathan Bush, Nora Samaranayake, Brandon Emanuel Leon, Ramzi Salloum, Vural Tagal. It was inspiring to engage with passionate researchers, physicians and leaders all working towards improving cancer care and patient outcomes.

A special thank you to Moffitt Cancer Center Government Relations and Moffitt Postdoctoral Association (MPDA) for their support and commitment to advancing cancer research advocacy. Their efforts made these important conversations and opportunities possible.

One of the highlights of the trip was having the opportunity to meet Dr. Kimryn Rathmell and get inspired by her continued commitment to advancing cancer research.

You can also help support NIH and cancer research funding at AACR Legislative Action Center: Your Voice Matters.”
