As Chief Medical Officer of OncoFlow NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, delighted to have worked with Kent Yip Hugh Johnson James W Wang Nav Thavanesan John Conibear Tom Roques Philip Yoong Muhunthan Thillai Suneil Aggarwal Tim Underwood Thomas Sharpe Ganesh Vigneswaran on a uniquely fantastic NHS-Academia-Industry-Legal MultiDisciplinary Policy and Thought Leading Article on Transformation of the UK Cancer MDT Landscape.
‘There has been mounting pressure on cancer multi-disciplinary team meetings due to increasing case volumes.
Efforts to streamline MDT workflows over the past decade have not resulted in substantial change. AI-driven technologies are being increasingly deployed across the healthcare sector.
Their application in MDT decision making, especially in reducing preparation time, triaging cases, and enhancing the consistency and evidence-based nature of clinical recommendations, remains an area of active research.
However, important considerations such as medicolegal liability, as well as patient acceptance and informed consent, must be addressed before widespread adoption into routine clinical practice is realised.'”
