Arthur Lodge Kellermann: The Importance of Listening to Child’s Pediatrician About His Care and Vaccines

Arthur Lodge Kellermann, Physican executive; healthcare, health policy and public health leader, shared Stephen Patrick’s post on LinkedIn, adding:

“Amen, Dr. Patrick, amen.

I’m a double – boarded specialist with an MPH degree and a decent medical pedigree, but my wife and I always listened to our child’s pediatrician about his care, including his vaccines.

It was smart then, and it’s smart now”

Quoting Stephen Patrick‘s post:

‘I’m not a doctor, and I don’t want to have to do all the research,’

said Cori Folkman, 48, a mother of two near Seattle, who is switching her children to a pediatrician who was vocal about sticking to the A.A.P. schedule.

‘I want to be able to rely on my doctor to know.’

We know from our polling that parents trust their child’s doctor above government agencies. I’m thankful for that. It’s critical trust that we have earned and have to work hard to maintain.”
