Artem Oganesyan, Internal Medicine Resident Physician at Jefferson Abington Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“8 years ago during my rotation at Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, Ministry of Health of Armenia, still as a medical student, I saw a patient with Hodgkin lymphoma who relapsed on her treatment. My senior colleagues, young hematology residents, were explaining to me why they will use Nivolumab as the next treatment for this case.
At that time, PD1 inhibitors were used only for advanced relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma. In Armenia, most patients could not even afford this immunotherapy due to pricing. That day, I spent my entire evening reading up on new investigations for treatment Hodgkin lymphoma.
Fast forward seven years, I presented 2 abstracts at ASH25 and SOHO25 of meta-analyses of clinical trials evaluating efficacy of Pembrolizumab and Nivolumab in classical Hodgkin lymphoma in relapsed/refractory and frontline scenarios, respectively.
Today, we published a full text article in Frontiers-Oncology that shows high efficacy of PD1 inhibitors in frontline classical Hodgkin Lymphoma.
This is especially important in the light of the recent FDA approval of Nivolumab with AVD for frontline treatment.
Thanks to my great co-authors for their contributions.”
