Arkadi Asaturyan: From Scientific Sessions to Meaningful Connections at ESMO 2026

Arkadi Asaturyan, Medical Doctor at Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, Ministry of Health of Armenia, shared on LinkedIn:

“I’ve been meaning to write my first LinkedIn post for quite some time, and somehow, I kept putting it off. With ESMO 2026 now behind us, it feels like the right moment to finally introduce myself and share a little of my journey.

I’m Arkadi Asaturyan, a final-year oncology resident at Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center in Armenia.

Although I haven’t been very active here, I’ve been fortunate to meet incredible people, attend inspiring scientific events, and learn from colleagues in Armenia and around the world. Most of these experiences have stayed in conversations, photographs, and personal memories rather than making their way onto my LinkedIn profile. I’d like to change that and start sharing some of my professional journey here, from time to time.

And what better way to begin than with a few reflections from ESMO 2026 in Madrid?

Having attended ESMO for the second year in a row, I can say that what makes this congress special goes beyond the science. Of course, the sessions, new data, and discussions are invaluable, but so are the opportunities to meet people whose work you admire, exchange ideas face-to-face, and get to know them beyond their professional roles.

This year, I attended sessions for young oncologists, explored the poster presentations (special shout out to my senior collague Amalya Sargsyan), and had the pleasure of meeting colleagues. Also met ESMO Open Editor-in-Chief Hope Rugo, ESMO President-Elect to be Florian Lordick, alongside ESMO President Fabrice Andre, and attended OncoDaily Grand Rounds in Sarcoma and Bladder Cancer.

As ESMO 2026 comes to a close, I wanna thank everyone who made this experience this special.

To colleagues and fellow oncology professionals around the world: I’d love to connect and stay in touch here on LinkedIn. Whether we’ve already met in person or have yet to cross paths, let’s keep the conversations going and build an even stronger community together.

Until the next meetings. See you all very soon!”
