Arif Kamal: Rolling Together for More Rides – Helping People with Cancer to Get Treatment
Arif Kamal, Chief Patient Officer at American Cancer Society, shared American Cancer Society’s post on LinkedIn:
“When transportation is a barrier, cancer treatment can feel out of reach – but volunteers are changing that.
Throughout July, the American Cancer Society put its foot on the gas with Rolling Together for More Rides – a nationwide effort to recruit volunteers for our Road To Recovery program, which helps people with cancer get to treatment when they have no other way.
Coupled with the partnership of Sinclair Inc. and its “Drive Out Cancer” campaign, we recruited 926 new volunteer driver prospects in just one month!
This number is the result of a tremendous team effort. Many thanks to Patti Allen, Megan Brown, Desiree Berenguer Carton, Darrya Lipscomb, Vivienne Stearns-Elliott, Brooke Evans Street, Gail Sams, Emmanuel A Zambrano, MPA, and everyone else on our Patient Support, Communications, Marketing, Access to Care, and Volunteer support teams who worked so hard to make this campaign successful.
To all the Road volunteers: By giving your time, compassion, and an open seat in your car, you’re providing hope and driving real change – thank you!”
