Anusha S.: Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation in Hodgkin Lymphoma

Anusha S., Consultant at Fortis Memorial Research Institute – India, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Allogenic Transplant in Hodgkins Lymphoma – the path leading up to this is one of patient resilience through releases , complex care decisions and dedicated team work.

The images in this post belong to a patient with multiply relapsed, refractory Hodgkin lymphoma.

Despite several lines of therapy – including brentuximab vedotin-based treatment, checkpoint inhibitor therapy, and autologous stem cell transplantation – the disease persisted with residual skeletal involvement.

Following a allogeneic stem cell transplant, the patient achieved a complete metabolic remission. He continues to remain GVHD-free and lymphoma-free.

Cases like these remind us that while the treatment landscape of Hodgkin lymphoma has been transformed by novel therapies, allogeneic stem cell transplantation continues to have an important role for carefully selected patients.

These transplants are among the most challenging in hematology, requiring:

  •  Thoughtful patient selection
  • Meticulous supportive care
  • Seamless collaboration across a multidisciplinary team

They also involve countless discussions about balancing disease control against treatment-related toxicity – carefully tailoring the intensity of therapy to give each patient the best possible chance of a lymphoma-free future.

This is where expertise, experience, and teamwork truly matter.

As a member of our lymphoma transplant programme, I feel privileged to work under the inspiring leadership of Dr. Rahul Bhargava and alongside colleagues whose unwavering commitment makes these outcomes possible every day.

As our centre recently celebrated the milestone of 2,500 stem cell transplants at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, I found myself reflecting not on the number itself, but on the lives behind it – patients and families who place their trust in us during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Here’s to many more stories of hope, healing, and second chances.”
