Annet Nakaganda: Excited to Speak Across Multiple Sessions at WCC2026

Annet Nakaganda, Founder, Ananda Centre for Cancer Research (ACCR) at ANANDA CENTRE FOR CANCER RESEARCH (ACCR), shared on LinkedIn:

“All preparations for the UICC World Cancer Congress 2026 in Hong Kong are finally complete: and I am genuinely excited to be speaking across several sessions this year.

Conferences like this always come with a great deal of preparation, and sometimes the workload feels immense.

But they also create an important moment to stop and reflect. Looking at my programme this year, I am reminded of how much work, collaboration, research, policy engagement and capacity building has gone into getting here.

It is one of those proud moments where you realise that the long hours, the meetings, the writing, the revisions, the partnerships and the persistence have all built into something meaningful.

Please join me in the following sessions:

  •  Wednesday, 23 September | 09:00–14:00
  • Workshop: From Commitments to Impact: Advancing Cervical Cancer Elimination
  •  Thursday, 24 September | 13:30 | Room S423–S424
  •  From Opportunity to Impact: Promoting Country Activation to Accelerate Access to Cancer Innovation

  •  Friday, 25 September | 09:40–10:40 | Abstract Hub – Rapid Fire Stage 2
  •  Closing the Cancer Data Gap: Development of the CARIFAS Tool for Cancer Risk Factor Surveillance in Uganda

  •  Friday, 25 September | 15:00–16:00
  •  UICC Flagship Session: Cancer Control Planning – Engaging Stakeholders for Impact

  • Saturday, 26 September | 09:40–10:40 | Abstract Hub – Rapid Fire Stage 2
  •  The Cancer Policy Lab Model: Strengthening Health Systems for Evidence-Informed HPV Vaccination Policy in Uganda

These sessions represent different parts of work I care deeply about: cancer data, HPV vaccination, cancer policy, stakeholder engagement, access to innovation, and strengthening cancer control systems.

I am especially grateful to the many colleagues, institutions and partners who have worked alongside me and helped make this possible over the past year.  None of these achievements happen in isolation.

I look forward to reconnecting with colleagues, meeting new collaborators and sharing lessons from Uganda with the global cancer control community.

If you will be at WCC2026 in Hong Kong, please come and join me in one/all of the sessions.”
