“Time-on-treatment data is one of the more underrated indicators in global health Monitoring and Evaluation.
It gets less attention than patients reached, but it’s what tells you whether a program can sustain access over years, not just deliver it once.
The Max Foundation’s 2025 report has some of that data for CML, and it’s a good example of what long-term treatment access can look like when the infrastructure behind it holds up.
It also breaks down diagnosis-to-treatment timelines by disease, which is a more honest way to talk about access than reach alone.
Those timelines depend on how complicated the care pathway is before a patient ever gets to medicine.
Worth a look for anyone working in global health, program evaluation, or health equity.”
