Andrew M. Evens: Reducing Delays in Blood Cancer Care Through AI-Based Workflow Optimisation

Andrew M. Evens, Deputy Director for Clinical Services at Rutgers Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“This was a great multispecialty collaboration via trans-disicplinary clinical cancer care experts at RWJBarnabas Health, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Rutgers Cancer Institute, and Rutgers Health with the Rutgers Business School healthcare analytics team.

We harnessed AI vis-a-vis simulation modeling (w/ 3D mapping of clinical space) and other methodology to delineate delays that pts experienced through a blood cancer ambulatory clinic. The work resulted in new and enhanced workflows with a >30% improvement in time saved for pts (with concurrently increasing clinical volumes).

A big kudos to Chenhao Zhou, Alison Tray, DNP, MSN, RN, APRN-BC, NEA-BC, AOCNP, CPHQ, Jacqueline Norrell, Weiwei Chen, Xin (David) Ding and many others, including multiple Rutgers University students and post-docs, who worked on this super fruitful multi-year project!”
