Amy C. Moore: A Story of Hope, Grief and Second Chances

Amy C. Moore, Director of Patient Engagement and Advocacy at Summit Therapeutics, Inc., shared a post on LinkedIn:

Grab the Kleenex!

I love to thrift and have a little hobby of ‘fostering’ treasures until they find their next home/purpose. I recently sold a pair of crystal candlesticks to a nice lady.

And she sent me this message this morning:

Thank you so much! We are getting married in June. A garden party-themed reception after our mass. We are 67 and 69, second chance for a divorce of a 20-year marriage and a widower from a 43-year marriage to his college sweetheart. We met in the 90s when his wife and I were coworkers.

Their first child was 5 months old. They later had a daughter and she was a flower girl in my first wedding. It’s a great life. We are producing a video, telling our story. It will play at the beginning of our reception. We are hoping it’s a tool of hope for grief counselors and others to share that second chances are divine and magical and life is good. Your candlesticks are going to be there!

Just this morning, I was saddened to hear the news of the passing of another amazing member of the lung cancer advocacy community. The message above put a smile on my face and brought the tears.”
