Amol Akhade: ASCO26 Abstract on Benmelstobart-Based Regimen in First-Line NSCLC

Amol Akhade, Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist and Hemato-Oncologist at Suyog Cancer Clinics and Reliance Hospitals, shared a post on X:

“ASCO26 LBA8507

Benmelstobart + chemo followed by benmelstobart + anlotinib improved PFS versus tislelizumab + chemo in frontline non-squamous NSCLC:

  • mPFS 14.4 vs 8.3 months
  • HR 0.67 (P=0.0017)
  • Benefit across most subgroups

But the control arm was tislelizumab + chemo, not necessarily the strongest global benchmark. The unanswered question remains: does adding maintenance anti-angiogenic therapy translate into an OS benefit?

For now:

  • PFS positive
  • OS immature

Practice-changing? Not yet.”

Title: A randomized, open-label, parallel-controlled phase 3 trial of benmelstobart plus chemotherapy and anlotinib for first-line treatment of advanced non-squamous non–small cell lung cancer.
