“The world is still a beautiful place, because of the people who choose to make it so.
There are moments in life when uncertainty feels overwhelming.
When you are far from home.
When war changes plans overnight.
When your family’s travel becomes almost impossible.
This was one of those moments for us.
And yet, in the Netherlands, we experienced something we will never forget: the quiet, extraordinary power of human goodness.
In a time when we could so easily have felt alone, friends, colleagues, and mentors stepped in with warmth, kindness, and care and made sure my family and I were alright.
Rutger Jan (R.A.J.) Nievelstein, thank you for your exceptional kindness not just professionally but in evety possible way. Thank you for making my children’s stay so special and so full of joy. It was deeply moving to see your wonderfully warm “pro-dad” side. My kids may have been a little intimidated at first, but you, and Miffy, have now become a part of their happiest core memories from this journey.
Rick R. van Rijn, thank you to you and your wife for the kind visit. It meant far more than I can express, and it made our first Easter in the Netherlands truly special. Tulips are now our favourite, Thanks to you both!!!
Merel Huisman, MD, PhD, thank you for your gracious invitation and for welcoming us so warmly. Your kindness is something we will remember for a very long time.
Firdaus Mohamed Hoesein, thank you for being like a brother. I am deeply grateful to have met you, and even more grateful for your friendship, support, and presence during such an important time in our lives.
We made it back home safely, carrying immense gratitude, deep love, and a renewed faith in humanity.
Because in the end, what stays with us is not only where we were, or what we went through but who stood beside us when it mattered most.
To all of you: thank you for reminding us that even far away from home, it is still possible to feel protected, cared for, and surrounded by goodness.
Thank you!!!!!!”
