Amil Družić, Oncology and Radiotherapy Resident at the Clinical Center University of Sarajevo, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Honoured to present our poster ‘Digital outreach and public health: evaluating social media interventions on HPV-related cancers awareness and vaccine acceptance in Bosnia and Herzegovina’ at the European Cancer Summit 2025, selected among the 19 best abstracts.
This work tells the story of our journey from no HPV vaccination programme in 2021 to nationwide gender-neutral HPV vaccination by 2025 – driven by three national online surveys and two social media and video campaigns.
Our data show significant increases in HPV knowledge, awareness of the vaccine, and willingness to vaccinate in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
But this is only the beginning. Now that we have shifted awareness and attitudes, the next step is to work together for higher vaccine uptake, equitable access in every region, and stronger, sustainable prevention policies – so that we can eliminate HPV-related cancers for good.
