“More cancer patients are getting life-saving treatments at home – safely and effectively.
For some people living with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy helps protect them from infections when their immune systems can’t make enough antibodies on their own.
I recently spoke with Patient Power about how this therapy can sometimes be given at home instead of in a hospital or clinic.
‘IVIG is made from antibodies pooled from healthy donors,’ I explained. ‘It’s designed to help strengthen the immune system in people who can’t make enough protective antibodies on their own.’
As I shared in the article, many patients start IVIG safely under supervision in the clinic, then transition to home care once they’ve tolerated a few infusions.
It’s another example of how care delivery continues to shift from hospital walls to the home – when done safely and with the right support.
For the right patients, this can mean less travel, fewer waiting rooms, and more comfort – all while maintaining safety and immune protection.
It’s a reminder that innovation in care delivery isn’t just about new drugs – it’s about meeting patients where they are.
