Amanda Impellizzeri, Executive Director of 3 Oncology State Societies and Leadership Relations Manager at MJH Life Sciences, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What a whirlwind these past few weeks! Between work travel, PTO, and the Thanksgiving holiday, it’s been a full and fast-moving stretch but one i am incredibly grateful for. I had the privilege of attending the Hawaii Society of Clinical Oncology (HSCO) annual conference this year, and the experience was nothing short of energizing. Although I couldn’t be in two places at once (thank you to Désirée (Ferenczi) Graciet on my team for representing me at the Louisiana Oncology Society Cancer Congress, everything came together beautifully.
From the moment I arrived, the aloha spirit was real. I was welcomed with the most beautiful lei and the sweetest treats from Laeton J Pang such a thoughtful and warm gesture that truly set the tone for the day.
One of the highlights was catching up with several mainland speaker friends: Dr. Jean Bustamante Alvarez, Ruth O’Regan, Sonia Gipson Rankin, Una Hopkins DNP, Carrie Daniel MacDougall, Jennifer Brunelle, Christopher Lieu, and John Westhoff. Always wonderful seeing familiar faces doing incredible work.
The energy was incredible:
– Standing-room-only sessions.
– Attendees traveling from across the islands.
– A full agenda covering cancer care updates, research challenges, AI in oncology, policy insights, and innovations like the microbiome-immunotherapy connection and liquid biopsies.
The discussions were meaningful, the engagement was strong, and the dedication of the oncology community in Hawaii was inspiring to witness. I even extended my stay a bit to soak in the beauty of Hawaii something I rarely get the chance to do on work trips, and it was absolutely worth it.
I’m grateful to the HSCO board, attendees, and sponsors for such a memorable experience. Sharing a few photos below to capture the trips spirit.
