“Today, I’m honored to share that my commentary has been published in the Orlando Sentinel.
‘I survived cancer twice. I didn’t get the support I needed most.’
As a two-time leukemia survivor and bone marrow transplant recipient, I’ve learned that surviving cancer is only part of the journey. The long-term effects, physical, emotional, financial, and social don’t end when treatment does.
For too many patients, supportive care isn’t built into the cancer journey. It’s something we’re expected to find, fight for, and navigate on our own.
This piece is deeply personal, but it’s also a call to action. Every patient deserves comprehensive supportive care from diagnosis through survivorship, not as an optional service, but as a standard of care.
I’m incredibly grateful to the Biller Family Foundation, the Support Is Care campaign, and everyone working to elevate the voices of patients and survivors.
Thank you to everyone who has walked alongside me throughout my journey. Your support has allowed me to turn one of the hardest chapters of my life into advocacy that I hope will help others.
