Amal Al Omari: From Cairo to Doha

Amal Al Omari, Chief Scientific Officer at King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Kicking off 2026 with two inspiring scientific gatherings across the region.

I had the privilege of attending the 18th BGIICC Conference in Cairo (January 22–23), a mega scientific gathering of regional and global leaders in the cancer community where every year Hesham ElGhazaly raises the bar of the quality of sessions and colleagues gathered with a unified message; equity and access to quality cancer care and research to our region and globally.

That was followed immediately by speaking at the 7th Qatar International Pharmacy Conference (QIPC) organized by Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar, where colleagues from across the globe discussed contemporary topics in pharmacy practice.

What stood out in both meetings was not only the strength of the science, but the shared commitment to advancing healthcare through collaboration, thoughtful leadership, and cross-disciplinary dialogue. Engaging with colleagues from across the globe reinforced how much progress we can achieve when we learn from one another, challenge conventional thinking, and invest in building strong professional communities.

From Cairo to Doha, these experiences were a powerful reminder that leadership in science is not only about generating knowledge, but also about connecting people, mentoring the next generation, and shaping a collective vision for the future of research and practice.

Grateful for the invitations, the conversations, the exchanges, and the opportunity to start the year energized and inspired.”
