Alyssia Crews: Orlando Health Cancer Institute Achieves Cancer Center of Excellence Across 16 Measures

Alyssia Crews, Vice President of Orlando Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Orlando Health Cancer Institute Named Cancer Center of Excellence. That was hard to hold in for a few days until we shared with our OH family first! Could not be any more proud of this team and the book of work behind this.

The Florida Department of Health has named Orlando Health Cancer Institute a Cancer Center of Excellence. It is the only one in Central Florida to receive the honor!

The designation recognizes cancer programs that go beyond standard requirements and provide high‑quality, comprehensive and well‑coordinated patient care. Scores are based on standards developed by members of the Cancer Control and Research Advisory Council and the Biomedical Research Advisory Council.

This recognition highlights the cancer institute’s commitment to compassionate, patient‑focused care. It also reflects the dedication of its physicians, nurses, researchers and support teams, who work every day to deliver the best treatment, innovation and hope.

The evaluation process includes 16 performance measures in three main categories:

  •     Organization – structure, accreditation, research, training, coordination and quality improvement
  •     Healthcare Professionals and Researchers – evidence‑based care, teamwork and quality certifications
  •     Patients and Families – patient‑centered support, navigation, communication and continuity of care”
