Alma Edith Benito Reséndiz, Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist at National Medical Center “20 de Noviembre,” ISSSTE, Mexico City, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I had the privilege of participating in the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology in LMICs Symposium at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee—one of the world’s most important forums dedicated to improving care for children and adolescents with central nervous system tumors.
It was truly inspiring to engage with pediatric neuro-oncologists, neuroradiologists, neuropathologists, neurosurgeons, and many other specialists who, across different regions of the world, devote their lives to improving outcomes for children with brain tumors.
Representing the National Medical Center ’20 de Noviembre’ was both an honor and a great responsibility. I had the opportunity to showcase a collaborative effort built over years of multidisciplinary and interinstitutional work—an innovative strategy that is strengthening patient care and positioning itself as an international reference for improving outcomes in pediatric neuro-oncology.
Receiving recognition for presenting this work was a deeply moving experience. More than a personal achievement, it represents the dedication, vision, and commitment of an extraordinary team that has chosen to work together to change the story of children with central nervous system tumors in our country.
My sincere gratitude goes to all the organizers of this outstanding event, especially St. Jude Global, Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo , Ibrahim Qaddoumi, Daniel Moreira, Santhosh Upadhyaya, Allyson Andujar, Sergio Licona, Elizabeth DiNovis , Jazmin Willims , and everyone who made this remarkable gathering of collaboration, learning, and inspiration possible.
It’s always a pleasure to greet my VPNOF family: Julia Hoveyan, Thandeka Ngcana, Ernestina Schandorf, Ludi Dhyani Rahmartani, Sarah Muma, Jéssica Benigno Rodrigues.
We return to our countries with new projects, stronger partnerships, and a renewed conviction that the greatest challenges can only be overcome through collaboration. Knowing that so many people around the world share this same mission fills us with hope and strengthens our commitment to continue building a better future for our patients.
To the Neuro-Oncology Functional Unit at the National Medical Center 20 de Noviembre: thank you for allowing me to represent you. It is a true privilege to be part of such an extraordinary group of professionals whose passion, excellence, and commitment are transforming lives every day.
Congratulations to everyone involved. This recognition belongs to every individual who contributed to making this project possible and to every patient who inspires our work each and every day.
