Alique Topalian, Research Scientist of Survivorship and Supportive Services at the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“Some professional moments mean a little more than others.
I had the opportunity to present at Niagara University for the Peggy Ranft Day and John Day University Honors Lecture on cancer survivorship and meaning-making. But what made the day especially meaningful was getting to share the stage with my mom, Michele Seyranian, at her alma mater.
Earlier in the day, I watched her speak with nursing students about the power of presence and the importance of caring not just for patients, but for the families beside them.
Getting to learn from her, present alongside her, and share our different perspectives on supporting patients and families made this a day I won’t soon forget.
I so enjoyed getting to know the Niagara community and people like Jaclyn Rossi Drozd and Michael Barnwell along with many others.
Thank you to Niagara University for the warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to experience this together!”
