Ali Abedi, Medical Director of Lung Cancer and Interventional Pulmonology, Methodist Lung Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“Combining advanced systems and emerging technologies to offer patients more options.
Using robotic shape-sensing navigational bronch with 3D imaging integration for an otherwise challenging biopsy, to confirm oligometastatic melanoma nodule in the lung.
Case was completed by delivering endobronchial pulsed electric field (PEF) ablation after ROSE confirmation.
CT/PET confirms a treatment response within relatively short timeframe of less than 4 wks, with both reduction in tumor size and metabolic activity.
(Size: 12mm to 6mm, SUV 3.0 to no uptake).
Treatment response to PEF ablation was achieved prior to patient initiating currently planned systemic therapies.
Encouraging case as we work to learn where these treatments fit in, and which patients it can help.
Excited to continue our participation in the bronchoscopic PEF ablation registry, and see where the data on this emerging technology takes us.”
