Alejandra Mendez: Honored to Contribute to the WHO Global Status Report on Cancer 2026

Alejandra Mendez, Vice President of Childhood Cancer International, shared a post on LinkedIn:

What an honor to have contributed to the ‘Global Status Report on Cancer 2026: The Future We Choose Together’, launched today by the World Health Organization

It was a privilege to work alongside such inspiring colleagues and advocates from around the world, united by a shared commitment to improving cancer care and outcomes for all.

The lived experiences of people affected by cancer must help shape policies, services, and research, so that health systems respond to what matters most to individuals, families, and communities. Childhood Cancer International is proud to have represented the voices of thousands of patients, families, and survivors across the globe.
Our voices must continue to shape the future of cancer care.

The report documents encouraging progress in national cancer control plans, declines in tobacco use, and important advances in early detection and research. At the same time, it makes a powerful point: accelerating progress requires a truly people-centred approach.

Thank you to the World Health Organization, Roberta Ortiz, Santiago Millan for inviting us to be part of this important work.”
