Alejandra Mendez: An Eye Opening, Deeply Moving, and Profoundly Inspiring Experience at SIOP Africa 2026

Alejandra Mendez, Vice President of Childhood Cancer International, Recognized Among 100 Influential Women in Oncology in 2025 by OncoDaily, shared Korede Akindele’s post on LinkedIn, adding:

“My heart is full of gratitude as I reflect on this extraordinary experience.

I am deeply grateful to The Dorcas Cancer Foundation, and especially to Korede Akindele, for making this remarkable congress possible.

Thank you for welcoming me so warmly into the SIOP AFRICA and Childhood Cancer International – Africa communities. It was a true privilege to share this space with such extraordinary people.

This congress was far more than a beautifully organized event. It was an eye-opening, deeply moving, and profoundly inspiring experience — a space filled with learning, generosity, courage, and hope.

It was a great honor to be part of this gathering, and I feel truly humbled and thankful for the opportunity to have been there. I learned so much from the African community — from their wisdom, resilience, compassion, and from the extraordinary work being done across the continent to improve the lives of children with cancer and their families.

I return home deeply inspired, emotionally touched, and full of admiration for everyone working with such commitment, dignity, and heart. Experiences like this remind us of the power of community, collaboration, and shared purpose.

Thank you for this unforgettable gift of learning, connection, and inspiration.”
