Alan Anderson, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Prisma Health and Executive Director of Sickle Forward, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“As we close out the year, I’m incredibly proud of what Sickle Forward and our partners have accomplished together across Tanzania, Uganda, Togo, Cameroon, Mali, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria.
In 2025, more than 150,000 infants were screened across our network, with over 2,500 children diagnosed with sickle cell disease and linked to life-saving care. Alongside diagnosis, we delivered more than 350,000 capsules of hydroxyurea, as well as other critical supplies including antibiotics for prophylaxis, folic acid, and malaria prevention.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our in-country partners and the extraordinary support of the individuals and companies who stood with us through our Kilimanjaro (Timmerman Traverse 2024) and Colorado (Summits for Sickle Cell 2025) climbing events! Your commitment continues to translate directly into lives saved.
We’re energized to keep building on this momentum, strengthening our current programs and expanding into new countries in 2026. We remain focused on a simple but urgent goal: a future where every sickle cell warrior has access to diagnosis and basic care, no matter where they are born.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
The last picture is a teaser for the Summits for Sickle Cell trek to Everest Base Camp that will be held in October 2026. More info and a formal team launch will come in the new year!
Happy Holidays!”
