Akhil Kapoor: Trastuzumab Associated With Improved Outcomes in HER2-Positive Biliary Tract Cancer

Akhil Kapoor, Professor of Medical Oncology at Tata Memorial Centre, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Pleased to share our publication in JCO Oncology Advances:

‘Impact of Trastuzumab on Survival Outcomes in HER2-Positive Biliary Tract Cancers: A Real-World Analysis From a High-Incidence Region (REAL TAB)’.

In a retrospective analysis of 91 patients with HER2-positive biliary tract cancers (mostly gallbladder cancer), trastuzumab-based therapy was associated with improved outcomes:

2-year OS: 32.7% vs 11.8%

These results support routine HER2 testing and highlight the real-world value of precision oncology in biliary tract cancers.

Thank you to all patients, co-authors, collaborators, and multidisciplinary teams who made this work possible.”
