Rising Air Pollution, Second-Hand Smoke, Family History Are Increasing the Lung Cancer Risk – AIIMS

“Lung cancer is no longer linked only to smoking. Rising air pollution, second-hand smoke, and family history are also increasing the risk. To promote early detection, AIIMS New Delhi has launched an awareness campaign encouraging timely screening before symptoms appear.

Expert Advice: Dr. Abhishek Shankar, Cancer Specialist at AIIMS, advises people at high risk not to wait for symptoms. Early screening with a Low-Dose CT (LDCT) scan can significantly improve treatment outcomes.

Who can get screened?

  • Individuals aged 50-80 years with a 20 pack-year or more smoking history, or those who quit smoking within the last 15 years.

Registration (BRA-IRCH, AIIMS New Delhi)

Wednesday: Room No. 59 | 9:00 AM-1:00 PM
Saturday: Room No. 4 | 9:00 AM-1:00 PM”
