At the AACR Annual Meeting, Adriana Albini chaired the session entitled “Cancer Detection and Interception Across Tumor Types: Addressing Modifiable Risk Factors for Early Action.”
Her talk was titled
“From early detection to multicancer testing: Shifting cancer care toward proactive prevention and interception”.
In a brief conversation, she highlighted the message for OncoDaily.
“Growing evidence indicates that the greatest reductions in cancer burden will come from shifting focus from treatment to early detection and cancer interception. This session examines emerging strategies aimed at identifying and intervening in cancer development at its earliest stages across multiple tumor types, with particular attention to modifiable risk factors and precancerous oncogenic drivers. Presentations highlighted advances in precision cancer interception, integrating basic research, clinical innovation, and population-level perspectives to enable earlier and more effective action.
The program also explored the transition from traditional early detection toward multicancer testing and proactive prevention models. Together, these approaches illustrate how combining biological insight with prevention and early intervention strategies may transform cancer care and improve outcomes through earlier, risk-adapted therapeutic and preventive interventions.”
