“A fantastic end to an excellent scientific and clinical meeting at the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (AGITG) and GI Cancer Institute, 27th ASM – Adelaide – SA. Great thanks to everyone involved in the scientific committee.
Our abstract on a validated proteomic-based biomarker for stage III colon cancer was shortlisted for the ‘Best of the Best Oral Abstracts’, and I was honoured to receive the Runner-up Award.
In this work at ProCan, we demonstrated that a tissue proteomic based biomarker can predict prognosis and potentially guide adjuvant treatment selection in Stage III colon cancer.
This project has been a truly collaborative effort with Prof Adnan Nagrial, Dr Rosemary Habib, Prof Stephanie Lim, Prof Soon Lee, and Prof Ioannis Sougklakos.
My sincere thanks to Dr Mohashin Pathan (lead analyst) and Dr Peter Hains (Scientific Manager and Proteomics Lead) for their outstanding work, and to Prof Roger Reddel for his invaluable mentorship.
There remains a significant unmet need for robust biomarkers in pancreatic cancer, and the presentations, particularly from Prof Shailesh V. Shrikhande, highlighted a clear path forward through international collaboration.
It was wonderful catching up with colleagues and collaborators in person. There are tremendous opportunities ahead to accelerate biomarker development and improve outcomes for patients with GI cancers.”
