Adam B. Weiner: A Prostate Cancer Study Retracted Over Animal Welfare Violations

Adam B. Weiner, Urologist at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, shared a post on X:

“Big prostate cancer paper in Nature claimed NSD2 inhibition could reverse lineage plasticity + resensitize CRPC/NEPC models to enzalutamide.

Now retracted.

Reason: animal welfare protocol breaches in mouse control arms – tumor burden/bodyweight data confirmed protocol endpoints weren’t followed.

Important nuance: authors state no other experimental data/analyses were affected – but the paper is still retracted.

Translation: promising biology, but the in vivo evidence did not meet standards”
