Adalberto M. Filho, Cancer Epidemiologist at IARC – International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We estimated that 20.6 million new cancer cases occurred worldwide in 2024, and 9.8 million people died from cancer. Covering 34 cancer types across 186 countries, these estimates indicate that 1 in 5 people will develop cancer during their lifetime, while 1 in 9 men and 1 in 13 women will die from the disease.
The latest GLOBOCAN estimates of the global burden of cancer incidence and mortality are published today in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians.”
