Ada Hang-Heng Wong, Editor-in-chief of Advanced Oncology at Wiley, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I was pleased to attend American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)’s ASCOBreakthrough2026 meeting in Singapore on June 25-27, 2026.
A major theme is health equity – the accessibility and affordability of cancer care delivery in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Discussions also highlighted how population demographics, ethnic diversity, and underrepresentation in open-access genomic databases can make genome-wide association studies (GWAS), mutational analyses and other studies more challenging and less conclusive.
In addition to challenges on scientific research, limited funding also make it difficult for researchers in LMICs to publish in open access journals, including Advanced Science and Advanced Oncology, which can further limit the visibility and impact of the region’s oncology research. Thus, Wiley offers programs designed to help reduce the cost burden of research publication; please contact the editorial office for more information.
Aside from the scientific program, I was happy to talk to other female scientists and male allies during the Women at ASCO Breakthrough Meet and Greet session and meet some of Advanced Oncology’s editorial advisory board members during the meeting.
Of course, who could leave Singapore without a taste of the durian.”
