In many resource-limited settings, children face major gaps in pain relief, survivorship support, infection prevention, and safe blood transfusions.
- Pain management is available in less than 50% of pediatric oncology units in some regions.
- Essential pain-relieving medicines are available in less than 15% of LMICs.
- Only 13% of LMICs have a national hemovigilance system to monitor blood transfusion safety.
These gaps can turn an already difficult cancer journey into an even more painful and dangerous one.
Every child deserves not only access to treatment, but safe care, relief from pain, and support beyond cancer.”
