Not Just Treating Cancer, but Holding Space for Childhood – ACT 4 Children

ACT 4 Children posted on LinkedIn:

“A cancer diagnosis changes a child’s world. When they should be in school, playing with friends, and discovering their interests, many children instead spend long days in hospitals during treatment.

In many low- and middle-income countries, this often means leaving school and the routines of childhood behind.

That’s where patient navigators and social welfare officers like Faith step in. Faith Douglas is a social welfare officer at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, Tanzania. Alongside supporting families through complex treatment journeys, she helps create moments of normalcy through play, art, and simple connection.

These moments matter. They help children cope, feel safe, and hold on to the joy of being a child, even during treatment.
