Shane Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer of American Cancer Society (ACS) and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Happening now in Washington, D.C.: the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) Leadership Summit and Lobby Day.
The ACS CAN team invited me to jump in and decorate bags in preparation for tomorrow’s 15th annual Lights of Hope. And this morning, I had the great pleasure of thanking the hundreds of advocates and ambassadors who joined us from across the country. We also heard from Lisa A. Lacasse, the President of ACS CAN, who talked about the organization’s legislative and policy priorities and advancements – powered by incredible volunteers.
It’s already been a remarkable 36 hours, and this is just the beginning. Tomorrow is Cancer Lobby Day, where advocates from across the country will meet with nearly every member of Congress, asking them to help increase cancer research and prevention funding, support early detection screening, and extend tax credits so people don’t lose their health insurance due to high costs.
It’s such a privilege to be part of an organization with so much heart and purpose. Visit fightcancer.org to learn about our advocacy work.”
