ACOG shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We’re pleased to announce that today, Camille A. Clare, MD, MPH, CPE, FACOG, became the 77th president of ACOG!
Dr. Clare, a longtime and decorated ACOG leader, well-regarded academic, and practicing ob-gyn, is ACOG’s first Black woman president.
In her inaugural address, Dr. Clare reflected on her journey to leadership, noting that:
‘Legacy is something each of us creates every day. It is the impact we have on our patients, the knowledge we share with our learners, the science we advance, and the voices we raise. Legacy is what happens when one person’s commitment creates opportunity for others …
As the first Black woman president of ACOG, I am deeply aware of the moments, mentors, and support that carried me to where I am today, and of what this moment represents for those who are watching and wondering whether they too can lead.’
Congratulations, Dr. Clare! We’re thrilled to welcome you as our new ACOG president.”
To which Gloria Ríchard-Davis, Associate Editor at Journal of Menopause, Regional Dean, Seattle/Puget Sound at Morehouse School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor at University of Washington, Physician at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, added:
