Abhijit Pal Receives 2025 Improving Equitable Outcomes through Cancer Research Award at the Cancer NSW Awards

“Congratulations Associate Professor Abhijit Pal – 2025 Improving Equitable Outcomes through Cancer Research Award recipient at the Cancer NSW Awards.

As a Medical Oncologist at South Western Sydney Local Health District, Abhijit Pal plays a pivotal role in reducing inequitable cancer outcomes across the state.

A passionate and well-respected clinician-researcher, his research aims to improve diversity in clinical trials and equity in cancer care, focusing on multicultural communities and populations with a non-English background.

Abhijit Pal leads a range of local and state-wide initiatives, including a pilot program of co-designed Arabic bilingual navigators, a grant to understand barriers to research participation in SWSLHD and SESLHD, as well as being a Principal Investigator of multiple Phase 1 – 3 clinical trials.”

The recognition means a great deal in terms of the importance that NSW places on equitable cancer outcomes and highlights our leadership from South Western Sydney Local Health District and Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research

Huge encouragement to continue our work in ensuring our world leading cancer treatment and research in NSW is accessible to all irrespective of where they live, where they are from or how much they earn.
