“Honored to have served as a panelist, session leader, and presenter at a milestone gathering dedicated to transforming cancer care in Ethiopia.
This high-level national summit convened key stakeholders across the entire oncology ecosystem-including leadership from the Ministry of Health, premier cancer centers, professional and patient support societies, Siemens Healthineers, and ElsMed Healthcare Solutions.
Together, we thoroughly examined the burden and current status of cancer care in Ethiopia while sharing successful strategic partnership models implemented across other African nations.
I had the privilege of guiding and contributing to in-depth panel and roundtable discussions in one of three critical tracks:
- Screening and Early Detection: Expanding early diagnostic pathways and community outreach,
- Cancer Treatment: Scaling treatment capacity and infrastructure, with a key focus on radiotherapy,
- Sustainability, Connectivity and HR: Harnessing AI and digital technologies alongside specialized human resource development to ensure resilient, long-term care delivery.
On our final day, we conducted an interactive, high-energy brainstorming and priority-setting session. Each track team synthesized and prioritized actionable interventions into a unified, practical roadmap designed to improve cancer care across Ethiopia to the next level.
