Aaron Sverdlov: Artificial Intelligence in Cardio-Oncology Care

Aaron Sverdlov, Co-Director of the Newcastle Centre of Excellence in Cardio-Oncology at Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), shared a post by ESC Council of Cardio-Oncology on LinkedIn:

“Delighted to share our editorial in Trends in Cardiovascular Medicine on artificial intelligence in cardio-oncology.

Our piece builds on the excellent review by Zeliang Ma, Rebecca Caldwell, Zachi Attia, Paul Friedman, Amir Lerman, Choon Ta NG and Joerg Herrmann, who provide a comprehensive overview of how AI may shape the future of cardiovascular care for patients with cancer.

AI will only matter if it improves real-world care. In Cardio-Oncology, that means better risk prediction, smarter use of imaging and ECG, more effective remote monitoring, and ultimately care that is more accessible, connected and equitable.

The challenges: validation, workflow integration, privacy, interpretability, and ensuring that these tools support clinicians and patients rather than simply adding complexity.

Great work by Joshua Bennetts, Asma Mahmud, Jie Yu and Doan Ngo for this collaboration, and to the authors of the original review for an important contribution to the field.”
