Aaron Sverdlov: ACORES and the Next Decade of Integrated Cancer and Heart Care

Aaron Sverdlov, Co-Director of the Newcastle Centre of Excellence in Cardio-Oncology at Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Better cancer outcomes need a healthy heart and over the next decade better cardiovascular care will improve cancer care and quality of life of people living with and beyond cancer.

Join us at ACORES – The Inaugural Australian Cardio-Oncology Research and Education Symposium.

  • 14–15 March 2026.
  • Chris O’Brien Life house, Sydney.

Cancer survivors are living longer, which means cardiovascular care is now central to cancer outcomes. ACORES brings cardiology, oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, nursing and allied health together for two days of practical education and cutting-edge research.

Program highlights include:

  • Survivorship MDT: AYA survivorship, women’s CV health, and exercise medicine.
  • Mechanisms / prevention / surveillance: contemporary radiation cardiotoxicity, thrombosis and hemostasis, risk prediction, cardioprotection and imaging.
  • Beyond anthracyclines: older adults, immunotherapy risks and ADT in prostate cancer.
  • Service delivery: digital health/AI, and ‘how to set up a cardio-oncology service’.
  • Research and trials: latest trials, emerging therapies, translational research, cardiotoxicity models and a roundtable on embedding trials into a busy service.

Plenary: Susan Dent, MD FRCPC – ‘Cardio-Oncology for Oncologists’.”
