Sam Royston: Marie Curie UK’s New Collaborative Research to Improve Palliative Care

Sam Royston, Executive Director for Research and Policy at Marie Curie UK, shared a post on LinkedIn:

”At Marie Curie UK, research is key to driving improvements and innovation in palliative and end of life care. We’ve funded six new research projects aiming to improve experiences in hospital, and discharge processes from hospital, for people at the end of life and those who care for them. The projects aim to address a range of issues, including:

  •  Improving discharge processes and communication from hospital to community.
  •  Identifying the need for and providing condition-specific palliative care in a timely manner.
  • Exploring the impact of palliative care In-Reach services in the emergency department.

We’re delighted to have worked in partnership with Leeds Hospitals Charity and Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity to co-fund a number of these studies.

We look forward to the findings from these studies and the impact they aim to have on people receiving care in hospital at the end of life, and the people who care for them.
