“Honored to be featured by Lisette Ostrander and to have my work highlighted in this way.

The Advocate’s Table was built from lived experience and designed to address real gaps in patient care, access, and understanding.

This is not just storytelling. This is systems work.

Through advocacy, education, and strategic collaboration, I partner with healthcare organizations, researchers, and leaders to:

  • Improve patient experience
  • Expand access to early detection tools
  • Center lived experience in care delivery
  •  Address disparities impacting underserved communities

There is still significant work to be done.

If you are an organization, funder, or leader committed to advancing health equity and patient-centered care, let’s connect.

The mission is clear. The impact is real. The work is growing.”

“Amazing Women Series: Shanise Pearce Advocating for Hereditary Cancer Awareness and Healing

This week, I’m honored to feature Shanise Pearce, a hereditary cancer advocate, health equity leader, Triple Negative Breast Cancer survivor, community healer, & speaker.

Shanise is the Founder and CEO of The Advocate’s Table, a health equity consultancy & advocacy platform dedicated to advancing early detection, genetic awareness, and patient-centered care.

Through her work, she collaborates with healthcare organizations, researchers, and policymakers to strengthen patient voice, expand access to tools like genetic testing & advanced imaging, and help leaders better understand the lived experiences of patients navigating care.

The Advocate’s Table also provides space for survivors, previvors, caregivers, and families to gather, learn, heal, & advocate together.

From Diagnosis to Purpose

In 2023, Shanise was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. In a feature with OncoDaily, she shared that her life changed instantly.

‘What followed was chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, multiple surgeries, and navigating the emotional and physical realities of survivorship. Along the way, I also learned that I carry BRCA2 and PMS2 gene mutations associated with Lynch Syndrome, which means my journey with cancer awareness & prevention will continue for the rest of my life.’

Her diagnosis also revealed deep disparities in early detection, access to genetic testing, & emotional support, especially in communities that have historically been overlooked, unheard, or under-resourced.

It also exposed how much silence, fear, & inherited grief families often carry alone.

Shanise turned that experience into purpose. She created The Advocate’s Table.

The Advocate’s Table

The Advocate’s Table is a health equity consultancy & advocacy platform dedicated to helping individuals, families, healthcare institutions, and researchers better understand hereditary cancer risk, survivorship, & the systemic barriers patients face when navigating care.

Her work centers genetic awareness, early detection, emotional healing, and health equity while helping healthcare leaders better understand the real experiences of patients.

Her advocacy includes collaboration with organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen, and ACS Cancer Action Network.

At the heart of Shanise Pearce’s work is the belief that no one should have to navigate these experiences alone & that when people come together, healing & advocacy become possible.

If Shanise’s work resonates with you, I encourage you to learn more about The Advocate’s Table and support their work in advancing awareness, advocacy, and health equity.”
