“We were proud to bring together policymakers, experts and patient advocates at the European Parliament for the launch of European Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month 2026.
Thank you to MEP Romana Jerković for hosting the event, and to all the speakers who shared clear and urgent messages. One point stood out: too many people in Europe are still missing out on colorectal cancer screening.
Today, only about 40% of the eligible population takes part, meaning the majority of those who could benefit from early detection are not being reached.
Screening saves lives. Expanding access, strengthening prevention, and supporting patient organisations are essential steps if we want to change these numbers.
