Micheal Sapienza, Chief Executive Officer at Colorectal Cancer Alliance, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I recently joined The Mountain Life Show on KPCW Radio (and NPR affiliate) to discuss a shift in colorectal cancer that deserves far more attention. Colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer related death in adults under 50, and rates among younger people continue to rise. Thank you Lynn Ware Peek for having me on.
This reality challenges long held assumptions about who is affected and how quickly this disease is changing. It also raises a larger question for all of us working in healthcare and research. Are we moving fast enough to meet the moment?
At the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, we see every day how urgently progress is needed. Project Cure CRC is our commitment to accelerating progress that can meaningfully change outcomes by investing in bold science, advancing innovation, and strengthening the path from discovery to real world impact.
Lasting progress will require sustained focus, collaboration across sectors, and a willingness to challenge existing models of how funding and science moves forward.
We owe that effort to the patients and families navigating colorectal cancer today and to the generations whose futures depend on the breakthroughs tomorrow.”
