Mari Joanne Joson, Department Chair Quality of Life & Survivorship at Healthway Cancer Care Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This year was especially meaningful as we celebrated 25 years of dedicated work in improving the lives of older adults facing cancer.
One of the highlights was meeting the inspiring Barbara Ewals, whose passion for SIOG – International Society of Geriatric Oncology is infectious! It’s always energizing to connect with fellow professionals who share the same dedication to palliative care.
Another unforgettable moment together with MJ Grageda- Valdecañas was singing with the choir—a truly heartwarming and uplifting experience that reminded us all of the importance of connection and community in our work: shout out to Hans Wildiers.
I had the privilege of learning about innovative geriatric oncology care models from around the world. We explored approaches from Canada, the Netherlands, the UK, India, and the US, focusing on how palliative and supportive care is seamlessly integrated into these models. The insights shared were not just enlightening; they were a call to action for us all!
Looking forward to continue collaborating with my fellow colleagues committed to enhancing care for older cancer patients and reuniting at the next SIOG conference in Valencia in 2026!
Let’s keep making strides in geriatric oncology together.”
