“ECHoS Town Hall Meeting 2025: Italy’s role in the Cancer Mission Hubs
At the ECHoS Town Hall Meeting 2025, Italy emerged as one of the most structured ecosystems in the development of National Cancer Mission Hubs. ACC, through Lidia Villanova, outlined the major progress achieved: ministerial acknowledgement of Italy’s NCMH candidacy, a diversified funding model, a strategic role in drug repurposing, and a national digital platform supporting Molecular Tumor Boards.
The session ‘A pathway to NCMHs’ implementation: multiple roads, one common destination’, chaired by Hugo Soares (Coordinator, ECHoS Project), featured contributions from Annika Nowak, Head of Sector at DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission, and Christine Chomienne, Vice-Chair of the Mission Board Cancer at the European Commission.
ACC continues to act as a driver of harmonisation across Italy’s 21 ‘regional’ healthcare systems, supporting digital transformation and improvements in oncology pathways.
